I wrote, directed and acted in this one. My old friend and creative partner Hus Miller produced and acted along with me (and we did the same for the upcoming feature film shot in Dakar, Senegal called, ZERO. It’s directed by Jean-Luc Herbulot (remember that name, because the guy is going to blow the f*ck up), and I’m excited about it. Stay tuned for more on that later!). I was in a funk. If I don’t so something creative after a while, I begin to lose my mind. Hus and I have been trying to get a feature film(s) made for years, and the dry spell was so long, I was getting itchy. It started with a vague image of two old estranged friends deer hunting. One day, I just decided to sit down and write it, and this is what came out. It’s beautifully shot bye Jacob Rosen, and despite not getting some beauty shots of us by a river, (there are always some that you fail to get as a director) I’m quite proud of what we did all in one single day from dawn ’til dusk.
I thought about doing a separate post on photography from my visits back to my homeland in the Pacific Northwest, but I decided to just include them here. Some of them are obviously behind the scenes from the shoot, some were doing location scouting, and other were just shots I took while hiking in the mountains alone on a different trip.
I grew up around the forests and mountains and water. I need to return to that to recharge my soul. It is beautiful and fresh and clean and alive, but it is also dangerous and unforgiving if it’s taken lightly and not given its proper respect. Enjoy.
