Cameron McHarg grew up in the rainy blue-collar neighborhoods of the American pacific northwest, where he started acting after winning the lead role in a school play. After a short stint in the U.S. Marine Corps, he won a scholarship for his work to study full-time at the former Lee Strasberg Acting Workshop in Seattle and later spent time observing at The Actors Studio in Los Angeles as well as appearing on stage in dozens of plays.

After co-producing a feature film which premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival, he went on to get his BFA in film at Art Center College of Design , where he won the Gold Addy and Silver Telly Awards and was a shortlisted winner for the Cannes Young Director Award.

His first short film, Kicking Sand in Your Face went on to success on the international festival circuit and was later sold to cable networks in the US, Canada, Russia, and Ukraine. His second short film, the end has also had a long and successful run on the film festival circuit and has screened internationally.

Cam was also featured in The Top 100 Independent Filmmakers in the World, now available on Amazon.

Deer Season, his latest short film which he wrote, directed, and acted in,  has screened in film festivals around the world and where he had won such awards as, Best Performance of the Year and Best of Fest/Best Actor (Actors Awards), IndieFest Award of Excellence (Best Actor), Best Actor (Independent Shorts Awards), and nominated for “Best Ensemble Cast” at the Stockholm Independent Film Festival.

Monroe Log, a gritty coming up age (Stand by Me meets Deliverance) drama set in the 1990 Pacific Northwest is a feature film written by Cam which is loosely based on a true story from his teenage years when he and his friends were held hostage at gunpoint by vengeful Vietnam veterans who were intruded upon by he and his friends, It explores class, make friendships, and misguided masculinity. This is Cam’s passion project which he hopes to be the first feature film that he directs.

Cam has recently stepped in front of the camera to play leads in Spaghetti Junction (Partizan) which premiered at The Austin Film Festival in 2021, and ZERO, which filmed in Dakar, Senegal during the summer of 2021, and is currently in post-production. Cam is a published poet, a burgeoning beer Cicerone, and is active in photography in his spare time. He lives and works in Los Angeles, but is currently traveling and exploring the southern United States with his camera and pen.
